2018-2019 Several contractors partnered with IBEW Local 223 completed the addition of a 333 MW gas turbine to the existing Canal Plant constructed in 1968. The addition of a General Electric new technology peaker has given this power generation facility greater flexibilty to meet the changing demand in Southeastern Massachusetts. At this projects peak there were around 80 IBEW Local 223 members
